"National Fotball League"

The NFL event involves talent from young college players who have done amazing things in their college career experience. NFL agents look at these players and select them throughout seven rounds. The first three rounds are the most important to the team and fans. When players are selected in the NFL draft they become what’s called Rookies, and they train with the team to start a regular season. Usually preseason is where players get to participate and sow off their skills. Also a lot of competition between players happens because they want to earn a starting spot in the regular season. It is more likely for first rounder’s to get a spot because they have extremely a lot of talent and teams draft players they need more work. I am a fan of the San Diego Charges and from what I heard about draft history we have one of the highest rankings.

"Response to President Obama"

“In a global economy where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity – it is a prerequisite. It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work. But it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it. So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. . . . And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country – and this country needs and values the talents of every American. These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent – a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.” -

President Barack Obama, 2/24/09

I strongly agree with Obama’s quote. This quote will hopefully progress and become true. The U.S needs the effort and skill of every American. At SPA this quote means a lot to us. In general we need to think of finishing High School and then taking our free education very serious. This quote will help me think of my actions, my future, and my country. I want to give my country my knowledge and what I am capable of achieving. The education policies will help many citizens go on to college. This quote inspires me because I always wondered about the education and everything Obama’s quote is saying. This quote makes it more clear why I should go to college and use all of my effort and talents, and hopefully I will be able to contribute something positive to this country. (139 words)

"Poetry Sounds"

At first, I thought rhyme was a rhyme that makes words a beat and it rhymes with the words, but I learned that rhyme is the repetition of the sound of stressed vowel and any sounds that follow in words that are close together. An example of a poem with end rhyme is below. The title is "Flavor Of The Day", and the author is Jenni. The rhyme scheme is "vain", "rain" and "pain", "day".On my poetry pretest, I was at grade-level. On my post test, I hope that I will be above grade-level.

Flavor Of The Day
by Jenni
Here you come, creeping back in.Inside your ever-changing tastes, once again, I'm the flavor of the day.Are we still the same? Now I'm burning in vain.I gave you too many chances, and you left me standing alone in the rain.I loved you too much, and then I learned it wasn't worth the pain I brought down on myself.I still love you so very much, and here I am,the flavor of the day, melting alone in the rain.

"Imagery and Figurative Language."

At first, I thought imagery was a type of writing you would use in a poem, but I learned that this was wrong. Actually, imagery is a figure of speech such as like, as, or resssembles,I also learned about figurative language. I used to think figurative language was a language that is used to describe things, but I learned that figurative language is a speech or writing that departs from literal meaning in order to achieve a special effect or meaning, speech or writing employing figures of speech. The three main types of figurative language are similie, metaphor, and personafication.
